Penis Envy Spore Syringe

$20.00

The benchmark advanced Psilocybe cubensis strain — one of the most studied genetics in mycology. Penis Envy spores are noticeably larger than standard cubensis (8.5–11 x 6–7.5 µm), with thick walls and a prominent germ pore. Our syringes are prepared with concentrated loads to ensure adequate density for slide preparation.

Penis Envy is the most talked-about Psilocybe cubensis strain in modern mycology. Its unusual morphology — thick, dense stems and small, underdeveloped caps — sets it apart from every other cubensis variety. For microscopy researchers, Penis Envy represents one of the most distinctive and scientifically interesting genetics available: its spore characteristics, growth patterns, and structural deviations from the cubensis norm make it a strain serious researchers study repeatedly.

Microscopy Characteristics

Penis Envy spores are subellipsoid to ellipsoid, dark purplish-brown, measuring approximately 8.5–11 x 6–7.5 micrometres — notably larger than standard cubensis spores. The spore wall is thick and well-defined, with a distinct germ pore visible under higher magnification. One defining challenge for microscopy is spore yield: this strain is a notoriously poor spore dropper. Our syringes are prepared with concentrated loads to compensate for this strain’s lower natural output.

Strain Background

Originally attributed to Terence McKenna and refined by mycologist’s Rich Gee & Steven Pollock in the 1970s, Penis Envy has spawned an entire family of related mutations: PE6, Albino Penis Envy, Penis Envy Uncut, and more. Its poor spore production has historically made it harder to obtain, which has only increased demand among researchers. Today it is the second most-purchased spore syringe globally, behind only Golden Teacher.

Storage & Handling

Store the Penis Envy spore syringe at 2–8°C (35–46°F) in a dark location. Do not freeze. Viable for 6–12 months when properly refrigerated. Shake gently before use to redistribute settled spore material.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Penis Envy spores different under the microscope?
PE spores are larger (8.5–11 x 6–7.5 µm vs 8–9 x 5–6 for Golden Teacher), with thicker walls and a more prominent germ pore. They also tend to clump more due to their wall texture.

Is Penis Envy good for beginners?
It is better suited for researchers who already have experience preparing slides. Its lower spore density means beginners may find it harder to locate material. We recommend starting with Golden Teacher or B+ and adding PE once comfortable with slide preparation.

Every syringe is prepared in our Canadian cleanroom under 99.99% HEPA-filtered laminar flow hoods and visually inspected under magnification before shipping.
