Mushroom Spore Syringes

Our spore syringes are the easiest way to put mushroom spores on a microscope slide. Each one is a 10cc syringe of sterile water with spores scraped from a spore print and suspended in it, prepared by hand in our Ottawa lab under 99.99% HEPA-filtered laminar flow. We stock 26 strains, from classic Psilocybe cubensis references such as Golden Teacher and B+ to the Penis Envy family and two other Psilocybe species. Every syringe is sold for microscopy and taxonomy research only.

How researchers use a spore syringe
Roll the syringe between your palms to resuspend the spores, place a single drop on a clean slide, lower a cover slip at 45° and start at 100× before moving up to 400× and 1000× oil immersion. A calibrated eyepiece reticle lets you measure 20 or more spores and compare strains. Storage and shelf life
Keep syringes sealed, dark and cool in the main part of the fridge (not the door), and let them reach room temperature before use. Stored correctly, spore syringes can last 12 months or more. See How to store spore syringes, prints and swabs for the warning signs to look for.

Syringe, print or swab?
Syringes are ready to use and the easiest to dose onto a slide. Spore prints keep longer and show the deposit colour; spore swabs are a compact dry format. Building a comparison set? Our 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-syringe bundles let you choose strains, and larger orders go through bulk and wholesale.

What size are your spore syringes?
Every syringe holds 10cc of spore suspension.

How many slides can I make from one syringe?
One drop is enough for a slide, so a single 10cc syringe makes many slides. Resuspend before every use.

Do I need a needle to make a slide?
No. For microscopy you only need a drop from the syringe tip on a clean slide.
