Peruvian Spore Syringe

$12.00

A highland Psilocybe cubensis strain from the elevated plateaus of Peru — one of the few cubensis varieties from a high-altitude environment. Peruvian produces medium-to-large ellipsoid spores (8.5–11 x 5.5–7 µm) with above-average output, and a tall, slender fruiting body profile distinct from tropical cubensis strains.

The Peruvian is a Psilocybe cubensis strain originally collected from the highlands of Peru — one of the few cubensis varieties sourced from high-altitude environments rather than lowland tropical forests. The Peruvian strain reflects highland adaptation: tall, slender fruiting bodies with a distinct morphology that sets it apart from bulkier tropical strains like Amazonian. For researchers studying how elevation and climate shape cubensis morphology, this strain provides a unique comparison specimen that lowland varieties cannot offer.

Microscopy Characteristics

Peruvian spores are ellipsoid, measuring approximately 8.5–11 x 5.5–7 micrometres. Spore color is dark purplish-brown with a consistent, even tone. Spore production is reliable and above average, yielding approximately 20–30 slides per syringe. The signature feature of the fruiting body is the notably tall, slender stem — a contrast to the thick, dense structures typical of lowland South American strains like Amazonian.

Strain Background

Collected from highland regions of Peru at elevation and entered circulation through the spore vendor community in the early 2000s. Most widely available cubensis strains were collected from warm, humid, low-altitude environments; Peruvian offers a counterpoint adapted to cooler temperatures and higher elevation. Note: not to be confused with Peruvian Torch (Echinopsis peruviana), a cactus species — an entirely different organism.

Storage & Handling

Store the Peruvian spore syringe at 2–8°C (35–46°F) in a dark location. Do not freeze. Viable for 6–12 months when properly refrigerated. Shake gently before use to redistribute settled spore material.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Peruvian strain differ from other South American cubensis?
Peruvian’s distinguishing feature is fruiting body morphology rather than spore dimensions. It produces tall, slender stems and moderately sized caps — a contrast to the thick, dense structures typical of lowland South American strains like Amazonian. This makes geographic comparison studies particularly informative.

Every syringe is prepared in our Canadian cleanroom under 99.99% HEPA-filtered laminar flow hoods and visually inspected under magnification before shipping.

Bought MSS syringes. They are not done colonizing the grain yet, but they are on their way. The GT is a bit slow, the APE reverts are VERY fast compared to most PE/APE I’ve worked with before. The PE6 are even faster, strong myc growth, spiderwebby texture but clearly not cobweb mold, very clearly heavy white myc. Like I was saying, the GT and more conventional strains seem to be a bit slower, I will know more in the near future, but I’m extremely impressed with the growth of the PE variations. I will order again mostly because of the sterility of the solution, the amount for the price, and also the nice bonus I received with my order.

Arrived much earlier than expected, and look phenomenal under the scope. Highly recommended!
