Tazmanian Spore Syringe

$12.00

One of the few Psilocybe cubensis strains linked to the Australian continent, reportedly collected from Tasmania. This temperate-climate outlier produces medium-sized ellipsoid spores (8–10 x 5.5–7 µm) and is an essential specimen for geographic variation research.

The Tazmanian (sometimes spelled Tasmanian) is one of the few Psilocybe cubensis strains linked to the Australian continent — a geographic origin that makes it an outlier in a species dominated by tropical and subtropical varieties. Reportedly collected from Tasmania, Australia’s island state, this strain represents cubensis genetics adapted to a cooler, more temperate maritime climate.

Microscopy Characteristics

Tazmanian spores are ellipsoid, dark purplish-brown, and medium-sized, measuring approximately 8–10 x 5.5–7 micrometres. Spore output is good — on par with widely available strains like Golden Teacher. The central microscopy exercise is geographic comparison: placing Tazmanian slides alongside tropical-origin cubensis strains (Amazonian, Thai) allows researchers to observe whether consistent morphological differences emerge between temperate and tropical genetics.

Strain Background

The Tazmanian strain is reportedly collected from Tasmania, the island state approximately 240 kilometres south of mainland Australia. Tasmania’s temperate oceanic climate is markedly different from the tropical habitats where most cubensis strains are documented, making this strain’s origin unusual and noteworthy for geographic research.

Storage & Handling

Store at the Tazmanian spore syringe 2–8°C (35–46°F) in a dark location. Do not freeze. Viable for 6–12 months when properly refrigerated. Shake gently before use to redistribute settled spore material.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Tazmanian different from other cubensis strains?
Geography. Most cubensis strains trace origins to tropical or subtropical regions. Tazmanian reportedly comes from Tasmania, a temperate island with a cool maritime climate. This unusual origin makes it valuable for researchers studying how geographic isolation and climate may correlate with morphological variation.

Every syringe is prepared in our Canadian cleanroom under 99.99% HEPA-filtered laminar flow hoods and visually inspected under magnification before shipping.
