Standard PE caps rarely open fully, making spore collection difficult. PE6 inherits the distinctive morphological traits of the Penis Envy lineage while the Texas parent contributes a fully opening cap and dramatically improved spore output.

Microscopy Characteristics

PE6 spores are ellipsoid to subellipsoid, measuring approximately 8.5–10 x 6–7 micrometres — slightly smaller than standard PE but still on the larger side for cubensis. Spore color is dark purplish-brown. The critical difference from standard PE is spore density: PE6 drops spores freely, yielding naturally dense syringes providing material for approximately 20–30 microscope slides — comparable to high-output strains like B+ or Golden Teacher.

PE6 was created by Roger Rabbit, a well-known figure in the Shroomery online mycology community, who crossed Penis Envy with Texas cubensis. The goal was specific: preserve PE morphological interest while introducing the Texas strain’s reliable spore production. The “6” refers to the sixth generation of selective isolation from the original cross. PE6 is generally considered the best starting point for researchers who want to work through the PE family systematically.

Storage & Handling

Store the PE6 spore syringe at 2–8°C (35–46°F) in a dark location. Do not freeze. Viable for 6–12 months when properly refrigerated. Shake gently before use to redistribute settled spore material.
